If there’s one thing I’ve learned after performing hundreds of shows, it’s this — kids have absolutely no filter… and honestly, that’s half the magic.

Every show is different, every audience is unique, and sometimes the funniest moments aren’t part of the act at all — they just happen in real time. Here are some of the funniest things kids have said during my magic shows (and yes, some of these completely broke me on stage 😄).

🎩 “I KNOW HOW YOU DID THAT!”

Every magician hears this at least once per show.But my favourite version came from a very confident 6-year-old who yelled:

👉 “He uses MAGIC… or magnets… or maybe YouTube.”

Honestly… fair guess.

🎈 Balloon Twisting Truth Bombs

Balloon twisting after a show is always full of surprises.

One kid looked at their balloon sword, stared at me seriously and said:

👉 “This is amazing… but my dad could never do this. He struggles with chip packets.”

I’ve never related to a parent more in my life.

🪄 The Honest Volunteer

You never know what a volunteer is going to say on stage. One birthday kid turned to the crowd mid-trick and announced:

👉 “I don’t know what’s happening… but I feel important.”

Honestly — that’s the goal of every show 😄.

🎭 When Kids Try to Help… A Little Too Much

Sometimes kids want to be the magician too. During one performance a child ran up and whispered:

👉 “If you forget the trick, just pretend it was the plan.”

That kid clearly understands show business.

The tricks are fun, the magic is exciting — but the real highlights are these unexpected moments. Kids bring pure honesty, huge personalities, and the kind of spontaneous humour you just can’t script.

And honestly? Those little comments are what make every show feel different.
