From Shopping Centres to Schools — A Week of Magic Jake ✨

(Same tricks… very different crowds 😄)

One of the things I love most about being a full-time magician is that no two days ever look the same. One minute I’m performing in a busy shopping centre surrounded by families grabbing coffee and doing their weekly shop… and the next I’m in a school hall full of kids ready to shout “DO IT AGAIN!” at full volume.
Here’s a little behind-the-scenes look at what a typical week of Magic Jake can look like.
🛍️ sunday — Magic in the Middle of a Shopping Centre
Shopping centre shows are always high-energy and unpredictable — in the best way.
You’ve got:
families walking past and suddenly stopping mid-shop
kids dragging parents over saying “WE HAVE TO WATCH THIS!”
and that amazing moment when a crowd forms out of nowhere.
The goal here isn’t just to perform tricks — it’s to create a fun, welcoming atmosphere that makes people want to stay longer and come back again.
And yes… performing next to a food court definitely tests your focus when someone walks past holding hot chips 😄.
🎓 Wednesday — School Shows & Big Laughs
Mid-week usually means school incursions or primary school shows.
School audiences are a completely different vibe. Kids are switched on, full of energy, and ready to participate from the very first trick.
What I love most about school shows is seeing students who start off shy slowly gain confidence throughout the performance — until they’re volunteering on stage with a huge smile.
Plus, teachers finally get a chance to sit back, enjoy the show, and laugh along with the students — which is always a win.
🎈 Friday — Birthday Party Magic
By Friday afternoon, it’s party time.
Birthday shows are personal, chaotic (in the fun way), and full of those unpredictable moments kids are famous for.
One minute I’m performing a big magic trick… the next a kid is explaining to me very seriously how they also know “real magic” because they watched a video online.
Honestly, I love it.
🎪 saturday — Festivals & Community Events
Weekends are where everything comes together.
Festivals and community events bring big crowds, outdoor stages, and a mix of ages — from toddlers seeing magic for the first time to parents laughing just as hard as the kids.
These shows remind me why live entertainment is so special. There’s something amazing about seeing hundreds of people sharing the same moment at once.
🧙 Same Magic, Different Energy
Even though the venues change — shopping centres, schools, parties, festivals — the goal stays the same:
👉 make people laugh
👉 create unforgettable moments
👉 and give kids (and adults) permission to be a little silly.
Because whether it’s a small classroom or a packed event stage, the real magic always comes from the audience.
🎉 Where Will Magic Jake Pop Up Next?
If you ever spot a crowd laughing, kids shouting clues, and a magician with purple spiky hair trying to keep up with the chaos… there’s a good chance you’ve found me 😄.
And honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way.
